“Diabetic” Bakery in PDX

We wandered into a “Taste of Heaven” bakery in ‘downtown’ Tigard yesterday seeking a coffee (I know, hard to find in Portland).   We ended up splitting a chocolate eclair there, and Mrs. BurgerDogBoy brought home a small box of “diabetic friendly” baked goods. Really excellent stuff.  Menu is online. Pictured top to bottom, blueberry… Continue reading “Diabetic” Bakery in PDX

I Try (and fail) to Make Gyro-Burgers

So I have all this ground lamb, which ordinarily I don’t care for, I’m trying to think of ways to pep it up and make it interesting.  Hmm, sez I, I do like gyros, maybe I could make a gyro burger? So I scour the internets for recipes and find a few that look interesting.… Continue reading I Try (and fail) to Make Gyro-Burgers

Portland, OR – The Crab Bowl

Finding a good burger is always a treat; finding one in the most unlikely of locations is a double delight! Saturday Mrs. BurgerDogBoy and I were out on some of the last minute holiday rounds; stop at a thrift store for ugly sweaters for the Yelp party (SCORE!), Target, and then scooting… Continue reading Portland, OR – The Crab Bowl

Portland, OR – Gravy

This one’s short and sweet (well, consider the source!). Mrs. BurgerDogBoy texted me yesterday that she had to kill some time up on Mississippi Avenue, waiting for a client, and decided to have some breakfast – a rare occasion for her. I was happy, knowing I would get to live thru the experience vicariously. So… Continue reading Portland, OR – Gravy

Portland, Or – Nostrana

Local Portland business Attorney, Will Du Val, and his better half, ok, 2/3, Victoria, invited us out for some holiday cheer last night, and their choice was Nostrana, the locavore-oriented Italian place on SE Morrison. It’s always been a hang-out of theirs since the early days of couple-dom (2nd anniversary coming up Jan 1, if… Continue reading Portland, Or – Nostrana

Portland, OR – Doner Kebab

The sign outside says “German food”, and doner kebab certainly qualifies, despite its origins – it has become one of the most popular take-out dishes in Germany.   The words “doner kebab” literally mean “rotating meat”, and you might be familiar with the concept from other cultures – being similar to a gyro, or shawarma. I’d… Continue reading Portland, OR – Doner Kebab

Portland, OR – Cara Amico / Delivered Dish

Rang up (ok, logged on) to Delivered Dish tonight for a change of pace.  We use them quite often, really, I’ve never had a bad experience with them.  They’ve always showed up on time, and the delivery people are pretty courteous.   Delivery fees are apparently set by the individual restaurants and can range for… Continue reading Portland, OR – Cara Amico / Delivered Dish

Portland, OR – Stepping Stone Cafe

“……eyeeeeeeeeeee’m not your stepping stone….”  (remember this Monkees hit?  no?  punk kid).  Anyway, I’m not your stepping stone, but neither is the Stepping Stone my choice for a burger. The place gained a bit of notoriety last year, when that slob of a television host, Adam Richman, showed up to down some “mancakes.”   … Continue reading Portland, OR – Stepping Stone Cafe

Sausage Update

Cooked up a mess o sausages yesterday, including a couple varieties I picked up from Sheridan Fruit Company last week. Their black pepper garlic pork sausage is a medium grind with bold flavor.  In the photo of the cut sausages, it’s the one on the far right, you can see the flecks of pepper in… Continue reading Sausage Update
