I was never in VIP that I recall, but I remember getting sent to the predecessor store, a little deli, whenever my mom needed some kosher grub.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Gebackene \u00a0(&#8220;baked&#8221; in German) Pizza has an &#8220;interesting&#8221; variety of toppings:<\/p>\n<p>Russian dressing-flavored sauerkraut, mushrooms, black olives, fresh chopped onions, and green peppers,topped with mozzarella, Swiss cheese and spicy Italian sausage.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve made pizzas with kraut at home before, but never seen it offered at a pizzeria. \u00a0It&#8217;s an interesting topping, adds a whole new dimension of flavor and texture. \u00a0But thousand island? \u00a0Not for me.<\/p>\n<p>The Minnesota Burger posse was out socializing after another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toddeckart.com\/\">Todd Eckart show<\/a>, and they reported that the Gebackene was enjoyed by the entire crew.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/photo-31.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9419 aligncenter\" alt=\"Minnesota Burger Posse\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/photo-31.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/129\/901314\/restaurant\/VIP-Pizza-Duluth\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; padding: 0px; width: 200px; height: 146px;\" alt=\"VIP Pizza on Urbanspoon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/b\/link\/901314\/biglink.gif\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VIP has three locations in the Twin Ports, two in Duluth, and this one in &#8220;Soup Town.&#8221; I remember the first Duluth location from a couple decades ago, on East 8th Street, across from Taran&#8217;s market.
