{"id":8828,"date":"2013-02-28T16:00:16","date_gmt":"2013-03-01T00:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=8828"},"modified":"2013-02-28T16:00:16","modified_gmt":"2013-03-01T00:00:16","slug":"joliet-il-steak-n-shake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=8828","title":{"rendered":"Joliet, IL &#8211; Steak &#8216;n Shake Steak Dog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First the \u00a0\u201cSteakburger\u201d, now the \u201cSteak Dog\u201d.\u00a0 I\u2019m a fan of Steak N Shake, have been for years, even though they never seem to be located in my part of the country, I stop when I am able.\u00a0 \u00a0My previous forays have been written about <a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/2009\/06\/mckinney-tx-steak-n-shake\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This trip a mere dunk in \/ out as I was making my way across \u00a0\u201cMain Street USA\u201d (I-80) in Northern Illinois, Joliet to be exact, in search of Jake and Elwood.<\/p>\n<p>The Steak Franks are 100% beef, chunks of sirloin, and are offered in varying styles, including \u201c<strong>Chicago<\/strong>\u201d (mustard, diced onions, sweet pickle relish, tomato slices, pickle slice, and sport peppers); \u201c<strong>Chili Cheese<\/strong>\u201d (Genuine Chili, shredded Cheddar \u2019n jack cheese, and diced onions); \u201c<strong>Carolina Slaw<\/strong>\u201d (mustard, diced onions, and creamy coleslaw); \u201c<strong>Cheesey Cheddar<\/strong>\u201d (grilled onions and smothered with loads of melted Wisconsin Cheddar).<\/p>\n<p>I had a dog and a burger. \u00a0The dog&#8217;s beef flavor is great, one of the best for a skinless. \u00a0The only downside here was both buns were a bit &#8220;dry&#8221;. \u00a0They shouldn&#8217;t fall apart.<\/p>\n<p>Steak \u2018n Shake makes frequent references on their menu to \u201cGenuine\u201d chili, and I have no idea what that means, do you? \u00a0BTW, I saw billboards on my trip for S n S offering $3.99 all the pancakes you can eat. \u00a0Yummers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.steaknshake.com\/menu\/\">Menu online<\/a>, as is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steaknshake.com\/locations#q=\">locator<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/STEAKDOG.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8830\" title=\"STEAKDOG\" alt=\"Steak N Shake Steak Dog\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/STEAKDOG.png\" width=\"448\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/2\/862648\/restaurant\/Chicago\/Steak-n-Shake-Joliet\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; padding: 0px; width: 200px; height: 146px;\" alt=\"Steak 'n Shake on Urbanspoon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/b\/link\/862648\/biglink.gif\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First the \u00a0\u201cSteakburger\u201d, now the \u201cSteak Dog\u201d.\u00a0 I\u2019m a fan of Steak N Shake, have been for years, even though they never seem to be located in my part of the country, I stop when I am able.\u00a0 \u00a0My previous forays have been written about here.
