\"7-Eleven<\/a>I’ve reviewed a lot of heat and eat burgers this year, and although I’ve had them from 7-Eleven before,\u00a0 my past bites were generally a \u201cbrand name\u201d, like the Big A, from the Chef Pierre company in Cleveland, a big supplier to mini-marts, schools, food service, the military.<\/p>\n

This is the first one I\u2019ve had with the 7-Eleven brand on it; the company has been offering more of their own branded product over the past couple years, and why not?\u00a0 Cheaper to make, higher profit margin.\u00a0 \u00a0It\u2019s official moniker?\u00a0 \u201cSeasoned chopped beef steak with cheese on a bun.\u201d<\/p>\n

I have griped in the past that 7-Eleven needed to update their packaging for those of us who chose to \u201cFresh to Go\u201d at home.\u00a0 The heating instructions formally included the standard \u201cpress button 3 for\u2026\u201d, to correspond with in-store microwaves.\u00a0 \u201c7-Eleven,\u201d I cried, \u2018tell us how long to cook it at home,\u201d\u00a0 and apparently they heard me, as packaging now includes these instructions.<\/p>\n

Packaging gives no clue as to who makes these for 7-Eleven.\u00a0 Apparently since they are \u201cfinished product\u201d, they don\u2019t have to have a USDA plant number emblazoned on them.<\/p>\n

(But I\u2019ll find out and let you know).<\/p>\n

Instructions called for 50 seconds on high in the nuke chamber, I went with a full minute to compensate for an aging microwave.\u00a0\u00a0 The sandwich was heated through at that (it is on the shelves thawed, but probably shipped frozen).<\/p>\n

The taste and texture were fine, as was the price ($2.49 for 6.7 ounces, or about .37 per ounce.\u00a0 The bun tastes fresh enough, and the whole patty experience was reminiscent to the Ball Park brand burgers I tested a couple weeks ago.\u00a0 Kind of a \u201cbuilt in grilled seasoning.\u201d<\/p>\n

As it comes on a bun, of course this is a no-no for the gluten free followers.\u00a0\u00a0 And I would venture a guess it doesn’t approach \u201call natural\u201d either, as the ingredients list for the patty, bun, and cheese runs to over 40 separate ingredients.<\/p>\n

Would I buy it again?\u00a0 Sure, and you know why.\u00a0 I am a burger whore.<\/p>\n

Side dish?\u00a0 7-Eleven Select Brand Kettle Style (Original) chips.\u00a0 Made in the USA.\u00a0 No idea where.<\/p>\n
