{"id":783,"date":"2009-08-08T13:28:04","date_gmt":"2009-08-08T20:28:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=783"},"modified":"2009-08-08T13:28:04","modified_gmt":"2009-08-08T20:28:04","slug":"seattle-starbucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=783","title":{"rendered":"Seattle &#8211; Starbucks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You know how sometimes when you go to &#8220;the source&#8221;, food and drink tastes better?\u00a0 You know, like going to a farm and getting fresh cut vegetables? Or to a micro-brewery?\u00a0 Or to Evian, France? \u00a0 Well, I wondered if the same might be true for Starbucks locations in Seattle?\u00a0 It&#8217;s 6AM, nothing else is open, so I wandered into a Starbucks,\u00a0 ordered a Pike&#8217;s Market Roast (saving room for cream) and I wanted a toasted bagel, and the woman behind the counter said they only had &#8220;#$)(*#$&#8221;\u00a0 (unintelligible), which she went on to explain where &#8220;cheese and garlic.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 I asked if the that was two things or one?\u00a0\u00a0 She said they were combined, so I ordered one with a light schmear, and went to wash my hands while waiting for my order.\u00a0\u00a0 I asked where the washroom was, and the clerk pointed, and told me the secret code to get in the door.\u00a0 (Spoiler, it was 22334).<\/p>\n<p>Apparently they hand the code out willy-nilly, because much like my home town Starbucks, there was a homeless guy bathing in the sink.<\/p>\n<p>Exiting, I watched them prepare my bagel, I doctored up my coffee, and read the napkin\u00a0 &#8211; &#8220;Real Food, Simply Delicious,&#8221;\u00a0 it said, and went on to explain that Starbucks has removed the artificial trans-fats, artificial flavors, artificial dyes, and high-fructose corn syrup from their food.\u00a0 &#8220;Now your food not only tastes better, it is better,&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 they went on to say.<\/p>\n<p>I pondered this while I watched the counter person take my frozen bagel from a bag of six, toast it, and slip it into a bag with a mini-plastic tub of Kraft Philly Cream Cheese.<\/p>\n<p>Must have been some other &#8220;real food&#8221; the napkin was talking about.<\/p>\n<p>And no, Starbuck&#8217;s Coffee doesn&#8217;t taste any better just because I was in Seattle.\u00a0 I am not sure why any coffee place can&#8217;t figure out the easiest key to great coffee?\u00a0\u00a0 A clean machine.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of miles from home, drinking bad coffee, and wondering why I am not at home drinking home town roast Cardinal Coffee!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/Starbucks.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-784\" title=\"Starbucks\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/Starbucks.png\" alt=\"Starbucks\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know how sometimes when you go to &#8220;the source&#8221;, food and drink tastes better?\u00a0 You know, like going to a farm and getting fresh cut vegetables?
