{"id":6911,"date":"2012-01-27T06:34:37","date_gmt":"2012-01-27T14:34:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=6911"},"modified":"2012-01-27T06:34:37","modified_gmt":"2012-01-27T14:34:37","slug":"portland-billy-heartbeats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=6911","title":{"rendered":"Portland, OR &#8211; Billy Heartbeats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billyheartbeats.com\/menu.php\">Billy Heartbeats<\/a>, an outlet of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.restaurantsunlimited.com\/\">Restaurants Unlimited <\/a>empire, is tucked away adjacent to the food court in the Lloyd Shopping mall in Portland, OR.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a schnock-0ff of Johnny Rockets, serving a limited, table service menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes, with the addition of a few standard diner entrees.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve passed by it quite a few times, never in the mall long enough to check it out.\u00a0 Last nite we had time before a movie, so Mrs. BDB and I sampled the wares of the kitchen and enjoyed the (decade appropriate) tunes being spit out by a lovingly restored 1952 Seeburg B-100 jukebox.<\/p>\n<p>They offer a daily special burger and shake.\u00a0\u00a0 I went with the former, bacon and blue cheese, and our over the top server answered my questions with prescient knowledge.\u00a0 &#8220;And the blue cheese are the big crumbles, not that sickly salad dressing stuff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sold.<\/p>\n<p>Service was prompt and the burger at definite curb appeal.\u00a0 Food is served in a basket, and most orders are accompanied by fries.\u00a0 I liked the burger, it&#8217;s hand formed and pre-seasoned and suits my palate.<\/p>\n<p>The fries weren&#8217;t spectacular but there was nothing wrong with them, either.\u00a0 Mrs. BDB went with a veggie sandwich and a traditional soda, strawberry, which I had a sample of, and enjoyed that very much.<\/p>\n<p>While I have rarely contemplated a shopping mall as a dinner destination, perhaps I should more often.\u00a0\u00a0 Billy Heartbeats makes a burger worth stopping by for.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6913\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6913\" style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/billy1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-6913\" title=\"billy1\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/billy1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6913\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Billy Heartbeats<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/24\/280351\/restaurant\/Lloyd-District\/Billy-Heartbeats-Lloyd-Center-Portland\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; width: 200px; height: 146px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/b\/link\/280351\/biglink.gif\" alt=\"Billy Heartbeats (Lloyd Center) on Urbanspoon\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Billy Heartbeats, an outlet of the Restaurants Unlimited empire, is tucked away adjacent to the food court in the Lloyd Shopping mall in Portland, OR.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a schnock-0ff of Johnny Rockets, serving a limited, table service menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes, with the addition of a few standard diner entrees.
