{"id":6405,"date":"2011-11-19T14:51:03","date_gmt":"2011-11-19T22:51:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=6405"},"modified":"2011-11-19T14:51:03","modified_gmt":"2011-11-19T22:51:03","slug":"recipe-classic-cheeseburger-safeway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=6405","title":{"rendered":"Recipe &#8211; Classic Cheeseburger (Safeway)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/safeway.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6406\" title=\"safeway\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/safeway-283x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"207\" height=\"243\" \/><\/a>I was in my local Safeway this morning, which is probably one of their smallest stores, and they are about to tear it down and rebuild.\u00a0 They have such a limited selection and such high prices, and\u00a0a \u00a0giant remodel job at a nearby local <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fredmeyer.com\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Fred Meyer <\/a> (Kroger) probably leaves them no alternative.<\/p>\n<p>1.99 pounds of 80\/20 rang up at $7.34 before any discounts.\u00a0 The only &#8220;origin&#8221; labeling states that it is a product of the USA and Canada. (The cow must have wandered across the border at some point).<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;come on&#8221; package sticker\u00a0 stated that if I peeled it off, I&#8217;d find a &#8220;Class Beef Cheeseburger Recipe and Cooking Tips Inside.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Wow.\u00a0 I seriously needed that.\u00a0 I would have gone for a cheaper package (but in fact, there were none) but for that sticker.\u00a0 I needed that recipe!<\/p>\n<p>So here it is:<\/p>\n<p>Total recipe time: 25-30 minutes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 lb ground beef<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp steak seasoning blend<\/li>\n<li>4 hamburger buns, split<\/li>\n<li>4 slices cheese (such as Cheddar, American, Swiss, etc)<\/li>\n<li>4 lettuce leaves<\/li>\n<li>4 tomato slices<\/li>\n<li>Toppings (such as ketchup, mustard, onion slices, pickles)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1. Combine ground beef and steak seasoning in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly.\u00a0 Lightly shape into four 3\/4 inch thick patties.<\/p>\n<p>2. Place patties on grid (sic) over medium, ash covered coals. Grill uncovered, 13 to\u00a015 minutes (over medium heat on preheated gas grill, covered. 13 to 14 minutes) until instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally into center registers 160 degree F, turning occasionally.\u00a0 About 2 minutes before burgers are done, place buns, cut sides down, on grid. (sic)\u00a0.\u00a0 Grill until lightly toasted.\u00a0 During last minute of grilling, top each burger with cheese slice.<\/p>\n<p>3. Line bottom of each bun with lettuce leaf; top with tomato slice, burger, and toppings, as desired. Close sandwiches.
