{"id":5928,"date":"2011-07-29T12:51:54","date_gmt":"2011-07-29T19:51:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=5928"},"modified":"2011-07-29T12:51:54","modified_gmt":"2011-07-29T19:51:54","slug":"finally-relish-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=5928","title":{"rendered":"Finally &#8211; a Relish for ME!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5929\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5929\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/donovanscellar.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-5929\" title=\"donovanscellar\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/donovanscellar-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Donovan's Cellar Relish\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5929\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Donovan&#39;s Cellar Relish<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div>The fine folks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donovanscellar.com\/\">Donovan&#8217;s Cellar<\/a> in NY asked if I minded if they sent me a sneak preview some of their new relish &#8211; Chili Maple, they called it.\u00a0 Believe it or not, Burgerdogboy is NEVER one to turn down free food, especially if it&#8217;s something new.<\/div>\n<p>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<div><strong>Now I am not generally a relish kinda guy; on the thousands of hot dogs I have consumed, my dressings are usually fairly spartan.\u00a0 Occasionally some dill relish, but generally would prefer to chop up dills from my condiment garden.\u00a0\u00a0 And never a sweet relish.\u00a0 Why? You ask why?\u00a0 Let me tell you why!\u00a0\u00a0 The bulk of my sweet relish experience has been limited to those crusted over tubs you find at snack stands, convenience stores, and the like.\u00a0 Not very appetizing.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><div><strong>A Chicago dog fan, I even eschew the traditional neon green relish Chicago links are known for &#8211; also not appetizing.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><div><strong>So it was with some trepidation that I spooned out some of Donovan&#8217;s Cellar&#8217;s Maple Chili relish onto a Hebrew National All Beef frank last week.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><div><strong>Let me back up for a sec:\u00a0 the label says this is an all natural product, small batch,\u00a0 family farmed produce.\u00a0 Read the label?\u00a0 Not a single thing on their you need a chemistry degree to understand what&#8217;s it all about, to wit:\u00a0 Cucumber, apple cider vinegar, honey, onions, jalapenos, red bell peppers, maple syrup, serrano chilis, mustard seeds, pink peppercorns, and celery seeds.\u00a0 Plain and simple.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><div><strong>Hey Donovan&#8217;s, is that Grade A or B syrup?\u00a0 Just joshing you.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><div><strong>Open the jar, and watch you see is exactly what&#8217;s on the label.\u00a0 Nothing more, nothing less.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><div><strong>And it IS delicious.\u00a0\u00a0 I am a convert.\u00a0 Mrs. BurgerDogBoy is excited about trying it out on other things as well, she said maybe on fish, or as a salad dressing.\u00a0 I admit I am intrigued.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><div><strong>These nice people have other products coming, according to their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Donovans-Cellar\/204167722963225?sk=wall\">Facebook <\/a>page (where I lifted the photo) &#8211;\u00a0 and their website will be up and running soon.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><div><strong>So thanks folks!\u00a0\u00a0 It was a treat to receive and try your relish.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t wait til it hits the shelves!<\/strong><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fine folks at Donovan&#8217;s Cellar in NY asked if I minded if they sent me a sneak preview some of their new relish &#8211; Chili Maple, they called it.\u00a0 Believe it or not, Burgerdogboy is NEVER one to turn down free food, especially if it&#8217;s something new.
