{"id":5921,"date":"2011-07-13T10:22:26","date_gmt":"2011-07-13T17:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=5921"},"modified":"2011-07-13T10:22:26","modified_gmt":"2011-07-13T17:22:26","slug":"vancouver-wa-bortolamis-pizza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=5921","title":{"rendered":"Vancouver, WA &#8211; Bortolami&#8217;s Pizza"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/bartos.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5926\" title=\"bartos\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/bartos-150x135.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"135\" \/><\/a>Stopped here at the rec of a fellow Yelper, while passing thru the area <\/strong> <strong> yesterday.\u00a0 I had a car load of people of varying ilks (gluten free, vegetarian, and me &#8211; garbage-atarian) (I eat anything), and the menu offered something for everyone.\u00a0\u00a0 Three small pies and a Greek salad put me back $61, which was a little brutal, I thought.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bortolami&#8217;s is an unassuming place in a small strip mall; the decor is &#8220;neo-bicycle&#8221;, with bikes, accessories, and racing shirts hung from the walls and ceiling.\u00a0 A flat screen plays sports channels.\u00a0 I cannot say whether or not the motif adds to &#8220;ambiance,&#8221; so let&#8217;s just call it a theme,\u00a0 that carries through to the menu, with specialty pies having bike-oriented names.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The crust is Boboli-like.\u00a0 Puffy, with a crusty bottom, chewy and doughy. It&#8217;s a quality crust, if your preference leans towards this type of thickness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The red sauce leans towards the recipes that provide a sweet, rather than savory flavor, quantities of cheese and the flavor it imparts is good.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The toppings range from very fresh cut vegetables, to prepared, standard pizzeria variety.\u00a0 In the latter end, the Italian sausage is the medium, pre-cooked (I suspect) type, but with very good flavor, nice fennel and a bit of kick, and the pepperoni has a slightly higher fat content, resulting in two things on a pie &#8211; more flavor, but with slight cupping and charring, which is actually what I prefer out of my pepperoni.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>All that said, the pie is VERY filling, and\u00a0 even the small size is too much for most diners to polish off in one sitting.
