{"id":4989,"date":"2011-01-21T14:58:31","date_gmt":"2011-01-21T22:58:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=4989"},"modified":"2011-01-21T14:58:31","modified_gmt":"2011-01-21T22:58:31","slug":"portland-or-little-bird-son-of-le-pigeon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=4989","title":{"rendered":"Portland, OR &#8211; Little Bird, Son of Le Pigeon"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong><\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5004\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5004\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/bird6-png.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-5004\" title=\"Little Bird Portland\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/bird6-png-150x150.png\" alt=\"Little Bird Portland\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5004\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Little Bird Portland<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Arguably, in many people&#8217;s opinions, Portland&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lepigeon.com\/\"><strong>Le Pigeon <\/strong><\/a><strong>is one of the finest restaurants around.\u00a0 When the chef decided to open outlet # 2, &#8216;son of Le Pigeon&#8221; he called on his culinary skill to make a downsized, casual version, &#8220;<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlebirdbistro.com\/\"><strong>Little Bird Bistro<\/strong><\/a><strong>,&#8221; across from the US Bank Tower in Portland.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Featuring a wide variety of traditional bistro foods, Little Bird also delights with rarities like bone marrow.\u00a0 (Mrs BDB will be pleased.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But my burger companion, <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.duvalbusinesslaw.com\/\"><strong>Portland Attorney William Du Val<\/strong><\/a><strong>, and I, went for the burgers, of course, tho I will (spoiler alert) be back many times to cruise thru the rest of the <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlebirdbistro.com\/menus\/Little%20Bird%20Dinner%20Menu.pdf\"><strong>menu<\/strong><\/a><strong>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Described on the menu only as &#8220;Le Pigeon Burger&#8221;, the meat (I don&#8217;t know the supplier, asked, got\u00a0 a vague answer), comes perched between and betwixt a fantastic roll from Ken&#8217;s\u00a0 &#8211; I almost didn&#8217;t get to the burger, the table bread (Grand Central) was so nummy, and has a light cheese, bacon, pickled onion, greens\u00a0and house sauce.\u00a0 Your choice of fries or greens with that, for $12.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a \u00a0hefty patty, maybe 1\/3 pound, so thank goodness the roll the picked can support it.\u00a0 Nevertheless, we were both inclined to cut ours in half to tackle them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bun? Excellent.\u00a0 Meat?\u00a0 Excellent.\u00a0 Condiments? Excellent. Fries?\u00a0 Excellent.\u00a0 Fry sauce?\u00a0 Excellent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This guy hits the mark, and will surely be the new standard for Portland burgers, where we seemingly have a five-way tie for &#8220;best of&#8221;, in my own opinion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Of some locales, they say &#8220;don&#8217;t like the weather, wait an hour, it will change!&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 That&#8217;s certainly not true here, where it has been raining for 72 years straight.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But we have our own little miracle.\u00a0 Think that burger is the best you&#8217;ve ever had?
