{"id":4907,"date":"2011-01-12T12:04:48","date_gmt":"2011-01-12T20:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=4907"},"modified":"2011-01-12T12:04:48","modified_gmt":"2011-01-12T20:04:48","slug":"home-cookin-gyro-burger-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=4907","title":{"rendered":"Home Cookin&#8217; &#8211; Gyro Burger Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4909\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4909\" style=\"width: 120px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/greekflag.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4909 \" title=\"Gyro burgers\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/greekflag-150x150.gif\" alt=\"Gyro burgers\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4909\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gyro burgers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Love gyros, love burgers, why not combine them, thought I? \u00a0 I have been screwing around with seasoning blends on this for a couple months, and have figured out one I mostly like. \u00a0Still missing something, tho.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 lb ground lamb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 T powdered garlic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 T parsley<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 T ground coriander<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 t cumin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 t cayenne<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 t savory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 t Greek oregano<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 t marjoram<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 t \u00a0rosemary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 \u00a0egg<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>panko<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beat the egg with a whisk, and stir in the herbs. \u00a0Mix this in to the ground lamb, and add panko as needed. \u00a0Let mixed meat stand in frig an hour or two to allow flavors to disperse.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hand form<\/strong> <strong>into 4 thin patties, and cook using your favorite method and to your liking.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Serve on buns or in pita, with tzadziki\u00a0sauce, lettuce and tomato, for dressing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, I didn&#8217;t have tzadziki, and there is a guy around the corner who sells it, but he is open irregular hours, and right now wasn&#8217;t one of them. \u00a0So I punted. \u00a0A dollop of sour cream, with dill weed, and a few drops of pickle juice from a jar&#8230;.and some diced dills. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For what I was trying to accomplish today, this was adequate. \u00a0The burger? \u00a0Pretty good. \u00a0Still looking for a &#8216;stronger&#8217; gyro flavor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And yes, I like cheap buns sometimes. \u00a0The buck a package kind.
