A bit of a celebratory dinner last night at Portland’s old-timey steakhouse, the Ringside,\u00a0 around for decades before Ruth’s, Morton’s, and El Gaucho crept into the city.\u00a0\u00a0 The Ringside is old, dark, and has seniors lining up at the door for their early-bird specials.\u00a0 Thankfully the darkness cancels out the glare of the white socks and sandals.<\/p>\n

Eschewing the jello and mashed potato crowd, we started with a plate of oysters, a small order of their “famous” onion rings (they are good),\u00a0 split a 24 oz porterhouse, with garlic mash, a side of sauteed mushrooms in wine and herbs (nice) and finished with creme brulee.<\/p>\n

No light for photos, except this one of the “calm before the storm.”\u00a0\u00a0 Superb table service, at least for us.<\/p>\n
