(And visit the Pepto Bismol booth to boot!).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We would have gone anyway, but our attendance was helped by the fact Mrs. BurgerDogBoy won us free weekend  passes when we were rockin&#8217; out to Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys at the Oregon Zoo earlier in the week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>So we gathered up our nickels and dimes, took Portland&#8217;s fabulous transit system downtown to avoid the parking\/traffic mess, and made our way to the &#8220;Bite of Oregon&#8221; event happening in Waterfront Park.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>There are plenty of activities for the chillun&#8217;, and as with most happenings in Portland, your canine friends are invited as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mrs. BDB went straight to a brew queue, and had a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ninkasibrewing.com\/?page=beers\">Ninkasi Total Domination IPA<\/a>, while I quenched my thirst with soda from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tksoda.com\/our-sodas\">Thomas Kemper<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Say &#8220;barbecued shrimp&#8221; to someone who has lived in New Orleans, and they<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3986\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3986\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/bite1png.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3986\" title=\"Tillamook Cheddar &amp; Chorizo Mac N Cheese\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/bite1png-150x150.png\" alt=\"Tillamook Cheddar &amp; Chorizo Mac N Cheese\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/strong><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3986\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tillamook Cheddar &amp; Chorizo Mac N Cheese<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>automatically think &#8220;butter, oil, herbs, pepper&#8221;  but our plate at Bite  (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.h5obistro.com\/\">H50 Bistro<\/a>) was a tasty skewer of medium sized grilled shrimp, with a sweet bbq sauce,  and a smattering of blue cheese slaw (heavy on the slaw part, light on the blue part), and a cup of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tillamookcheese.com\/\">Tillamook<\/a> Cheddar Mac N Cheese with crispy chorizo bits.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Moved on to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gustavs.net\/\">Gustav&#8217;s<\/a> booth for some cheese fondue w\/ bread cubes, and a Bavarian pretzel on the side.  In my head, I&#8217;m thinking that fondue is a &#8220;winter&#8221; dish, but even on a hot summer day in Portland, this creamy deliciousness hit the spot.  I have a craving for more.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3985\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3985\" style=\"width: 274px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/bite7png.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3985\" title=\"Chaquita Bananas\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/bite7png-274x300.png\" alt=\"Chaquita Bananas\" width=\"274\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/strong><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3985\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chaquita Banana Tattoo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>A quick stop at the Chaquita Banana booth to have our pix taken in banana costumes, and add temp tattoos to our arms, then over to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adams-rib-smoke-house.com\/\">Adam&#8217;s Rib &amp; Smokehouse<\/a>, from Salem, for the gianormous rib plate, and a beef slider.  The ribs were slightly sauced, but came with a ramikin of their sweet but vinegary sauce on the side, and the BBQ&#8217;ed beef slider was an ample serving on fresh soft bakery roll.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Things I didn&#8217;t get to try?
