Lunch at the MAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/mac7png.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3677\" title=\"mac7png\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/mac7png-300x244.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a>When my colleagues said &#8220;Let&#8217;s meet for lunch at the MAC,&#8221;\u00a0 I was excited.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t know what the MAC was, but I thought it might stand for &#8220;Mighty Academy of Cuisine.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 Or perhaps I didn&#8217;t hear them right, and they said &#8220;Let&#8217;s meet for lunch on the MAX,&#8221; which is the local light rail system.\u00a0\u00a0 But it turns out, the MAC is the Multnomah Athletic Club, a hoity-toity establishment for local blue bloods seeking fitness, companionship, or ogling.\u00a0 They only open membership on occasion, and you have to be nominated to join, and pass somebody&#8217;s muster.\u00a0 I only like places where the only thing\u00a0 I have to pass the is the mustard.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The sign on the front door says &#8220;Private Property, Members and Guests Only, Video Surveillance on site.&#8221;\u00a0 Hmmmm.\u00a0\u00a0 Kinda brings to mind the Groucho Marx quote, &#8220;I&#8217;d never join a club that would have someone like me as a member.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 I relate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>OK, all bullshit aside, I have been here before and it&#8217;s really nice.\u00a0 The dining room is tastefully decorated in flat screen tv&#8217;s and photos of athletic type activities from days of yore.\u00a0 Ambiance is accented by an aroma therapy system that pumps in the odor of locker room sweat and old gym shoes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>BUT.\u00a0 We&#8217;re here for the burgers, and they don&#8217;t disappoint.\u00a0 A half pound fres<\/strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/mac2png.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3678\" title=\"mac2png\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/mac2png-300x184.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><\/strong><strong>h ground beef, on a bakery roll, with your choice of cheese, or whatever cheese the waitress thinks you said, lettuce tomato, grilled onions,\u00a0 a schmear of thousand island on the bottom bun, <\/strong><strong>a<\/strong><strong>nd a couple of bread and butter pickle chips.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mine was cooked to my specification of medium rare, and other than the lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, and thousand island, it was superb.\u00a0\u00a0 I used to order burgers on these excursions &#8220;plain&#8221;, but I have taken to ordering the &#8220;special&#8221;
