{"id":24134,"date":"2020-05-31T13:52:26","date_gmt":"2020-05-31T18:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=24134"},"modified":"2020-05-31T13:52:26","modified_gmt":"2020-05-31T18:52:26","slug":"ginos-east-frozen-pizza-review-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=24134","title":{"rendered":"Ginos East Frozen Pizza Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Ginos East Frozen Pizza Review<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginoseast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gino&#8217;s East<\/a> is a downtown Chicago restaurant that specializes in one of the versions of &#8220;Chicago Deep Dish.&#8221;\u00a0 They opened just off the <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-24136\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/20200530_164203-300x281.jpg\" alt=\"Ginos East Frozen Pizza Review\" width=\"300\" height=\"281\" \/>magnificent mile in 1966.\u00a0 They subscribe to the version that is &#8220;crust, cheese, toppings, sauce.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other versions\u00a0 in the same segment are more focused on the amount of cheese, and can be labeled either &#8220;Deep Dish&#8221; or &#8220;Stuffed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gino&#8217;s has opened other outlets around Chicagoland and out of state with mixed results.\u00a0 They have, however, been very successful in capturing a sizeable portion of the frozen pizza market, both in the deep dish and thin crust categories. (Crack thin crust, square-cut pizza, often called &#8220;Tavern style&#8221; is also very popular in the Chicago area.<\/p>\n<p>One aspect Gino&#8217;s is noted for is the &#8220;sausage patty&#8221; deep dish.\u00a0 Instead of bits of sausage as a topping, there is a solid patty of sausage which stretches crust to crust.\u00a0 Their sausage is very gently seasoned.<\/p>\n<p>They use a quality cheese, with good stretch, and their tomato sauce leans towards slightly sweet and chunky.\u00a0 Crust is flaky, both top and bottom.\u00a0 The frozen pie weights two pounds, and I paid $5.99 for it this week.\u00a0 It&#8217;s usually a bit higher.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24142\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24142\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-24142 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/festive-foods-1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Ginos East Frozen Pizza Review\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24142\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Festive Foods Plant<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I&#8217;ve probably purchased these 4-5 times, and candidly, I&#8217;ve never had what I would call a 100% success rate with them. I can&#8217;t get them to bake evenly.
