Found out later, it is supposedly one of the city’s “hot spots”, not sure why, tho it was crowded early on a Sunday morning (what place, anywhere, isn’t?) and we were in the mood for breakfast.

No, I have no idea what the name means, and neither does Babel Fish.

It was pleasantly decorated, we were waited on by a very nice young man. (One sidebar here, that Amsterdam is really techno-wired, among other things, I don’t think we saw very many restaurants that the servers weren’t using wireless PDAs for placing orders and delivering bills).

Mrs. BDB decided to branch out and she ordered MEAT croquettes, which I think we both assumed would be solid pieces of meat, but it was akin to eating deep-fried country gravy with sausage bits in it. We didn’t find this distasteful. Why hasn’t Louisiana discovered this? Deep-fried gravy? Man oh man!

I ordered breakfast, 3 fried eggs, (check out the color of those yolks again folks, just don’t see those in the US) with fried ham and fresh bread.

The food came quickly, and did not disappoint. Well, we really didn’t have a single bad meal in Amsterdam, but we did skip a lot of local favorites that we should have hit. No pancake, for example. I mean, really, there’s only six meals in a day, so we couldn’t get to everything?

Full menu for Wildschut is online. Once again, I see things looking at it now I wish we would have tried. I know, I know, I didn’t get a burger.
