I am skeptical about the results from the get-go, because at the store I purchased this product from, the entire selection of the product had obviously been subjected to freezing problems (like thawed and refrozen &#8211; indicated by warped boxes, ice crystals on the interior packaging.   I am trying the Italian Sausage and Onion variety, which claims both slices of sausage as well as crumbles, and sliced\u00a0 white onion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading the ingred<a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/Digiorno-Nuitrional.PNG\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2002 alignleft\" title=\"Digiorno Nuitrional\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/Digiorno-Nuitrional.PNG\" alt=\"Digiorno Nuitrional\" width=\"166\" height=\"353\" \/><\/a>ients, I am thankful that the sausage seems to be &#8220;normal&#8221; (i.e., no poultry products in it), as does the cheese.   The nutritional ingredients are thus:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>So eating an entire pie, contributes 1200 calories, 210 % of my daily fat requirements, 150% of my sodium, and 27% of my carbs (that&#8217;s surprising!).   Yeah, like I pay attention to this.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooking instructions are preheat to 400, cookie sheet, 2nd rack, 23-27 minutes.  Additional notes include &#8220;do not allow to thaw&#8221; and &#8220;let sit five minutes before eating.&#8221;  I guess they should know, since they claim &#8220;If it looks like delivery, smells like delivery, and tastes like delivery, it must be DiGiorno!&#8221;  (I hope they are discriminating in their comparisons&#8230;I mean they wouldn&#8217;t want it to taste like Domino&#8217;s would they?) (Although I haven&#8217;t tried the new Domino&#8217;s recipe).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I also wanted to try this before its ownership floats overseas&#8230;.Kraft sold its profitable pizza division to Nestle&#8217;s this week in order to finance their attempt at acquiring Cadbury.\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s curious that they didn&#8217;t sell to a strategic buyer, like Schwan&#8217;s.\u00a0 You can always get more money from a strategic buyer.\u00a0 But Schwan&#8217;s and Kraft have a little &#8220;history&#8221;, so that probably prevented them from wanting to make a deal like that.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the pie straight from the box.\u00a0 It&#8217;s kind of a bad sign that there are ice crystals INSIDE the vacumn wrap.\u00a0 Not sure how that could happen.\u00a0 Think I am in for some freezer-burn tasting sausage!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/giornoro-2-PNG.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2009\" title=\"giornoro 2 PNG\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/giornoro-2-PNG-300x259.png\" alt=\"giornoro 2 PNG\" width=\"413\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pie out of wrap.\u00a0\u00a0 Appearance of substantial freezer burn.\u00a0 Now I am really worried.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/giornoro-froze-png.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2014\" title=\"giornoro froze png\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/giornoro-froze-png-300x266.jpg\" alt=\"giornoro froze png\" width=\"398\" height=\"352\" \/><\/a><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In any case.\u00a0\u00a0 Pizza in the oven.\u00a0 Requisite amount of time.\u00a0\u00a0 Pictured cooked as instructed. After 23 minutes, cheese not melted, crust not crispy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/giornoro-cook-PNG1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2016\" title=\"giornoro cook PNG\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/giornoro-cook-PNG1-300x212.png\" alt=\"giornoro cook PNG\" width=\"426\" height=\"301\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But after 27\u00a0 minutes?\u00a0\u00a0 I am gonna surprise you.\u00a0 This may very well be one of the best (to my taste) frozen pizzas I have had.\u00a0 The crust crisped up nicely.\u00a0 The sausage and cheese were flavorful.\u00a0\u00a0 The toppings and sauce weren&#8217;t like anything I have experienced with any Digiorno pizza before.\u00a0 I especially liked the moderately heavy use of herbs, which is reminiscent of my heretofore personal frozen favorites &#8211; California Pizza Kitchen&#8217;s &#8220;Sicilian.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The white onion slices were a nice touch.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll buy this one again.\u00a0\u00a0 They could even pump up their advertising a little to say &#8220;It&#8217;s better than a lot of deliveries.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been wanting to try one of these, see how crispy their &#8220;Crispy Flatbread&#8221; gets.
