I was hooked.\u00a0 It was 1975.\u00a0 Back then, other than at a deli, your choice was limited to frozen. Period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Go to New York or someone that follows a traditional NY recipe (see video) and you&#8217;ll be spoiled forever.\u00a0 No more chain or frozen bagels, uh huh, no way, never.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lR8ydxAJ_Cg\" width=\"400\" height=\"275\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Well, I got lucky recently, with the opening of &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/irasbagels.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ira&#8217;s Bagels<\/a>&#8221; in Lake in the Hills, IL, a NW Chicago suburb near me.
