{"id":17852,"date":"2018-03-26T16:04:58","date_gmt":"2018-03-26T21:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=17852"},"modified":"2018-03-26T16:04:58","modified_gmt":"2018-03-26T21:04:58","slug":"sonic-drive-in-slingers-review-nationwide-chain-in-46-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=17852","title":{"rendered":"Sonic Drive In &#8220;Slingers&#8221; Review &#8211; Nationwide Chain in 46 States"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/logo2.gif\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-17856\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-17856\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/logo2.gif\" alt=\"Sonic Drive In &quot;Slingers&quot; Review\" width=\"195\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a>Can&#8217;t say who thought of this concept, but naturally the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mushroomsatretail.com\/the-blend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mushroom Council<\/a>&#8221; is excited about it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The idea is to use finely diced mushrooms and seasonings as an extender for beef with a two-fold goal: to make hamburgers juicier and more flavorful, and also to do a bit for the environment &#8211; if we&#8217;re using less resources for beef, that&#8217;s supposed to be a good thing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Seems like the suggested percentage is &#8216;shrooms in the 25-30% range.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Boldy going where no chain has gone before, the people at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonicdrivein.com\/menu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sonic<\/a> jumped on this, and are currently offering two different LTO blended burgers which they call &#8220;Slingers.&#8221;\u00a0 Bigger than a slider, not as big as a &#8220;regular&#8221; burger (tho I have strongly suggested they get with that!).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The &#8220;Classic&#8221; is cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. An upgrade gives you bacon\/cheese without the produce. $1.99 and $2.49, respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">An affinity for mushrooms came to me quite late in life. I could possibly be a little shy about some of them still.\u00a0 But I was committed to diving into this for the sake of you, dear reader.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Glad I did. They ARE tastier. They ARE juicier. You can&#8217;t see or &#8216;taste&#8217; anything mushroomy. At least I couldn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I did enjoy them. I would prefer them over most fast food standard burgers. Nice brioche bun, as well. Soft but sturdy, how we like &#8217;em!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So that&#8217;s that.\u00a0 Sonic menu.
