{"id":14054,"date":"2015-04-16T05:40:25","date_gmt":"2015-04-16T10:40:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=14054"},"modified":"2015-04-16T05:40:25","modified_gmt":"2015-04-16T10:40:25","slug":"franks-fast-n-fresh-deli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=14054","title":{"rendered":"Franks Fast N Fresh Deli &#8211; Superior, WI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/FullSizeRender.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-14059\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/FullSizeRender-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Franks Fast N Fresh Deli\" width=\"256\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a>You know I&#8217;ve written a lot about &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/2013\/02\/chicken-strip-smackdown-south\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gas station chicken<\/a>,&#8221; or &#8220;fry delis&#8221; as they are called in the deep south. \u00a0Counters inside of gas stations, c-stores, or truck stops, these enterprises sell freshly fried chicken, and sometimes sausage, fish, shrimp, eggrolls and the like.<\/p>\n<p>The Calument gas station (formerly Spur) at the food of the Blatnik Bridge in Superior, Wisconsin, is home to Franks Fast N Fresh Deli, serving plate meals and individual pieces of chicken and other goodies early til late. \u00a0They also have fries, corn dogs, cheese sticks and some sides.<\/p>\n<p>The chicken is reportedly some of the finest to be found in Duluth-Superior. \u00a0But then, what gas station chicken isn&#8217;t?<\/p>\n<p>Locals &#8220;in the know&#8221; fondly call the gas station &#8220;Chicken Spur.&#8221; \u00a0It&#8217;s on Hammond and N.
