That&#8217;s about the best I can say for the Marengo Cafe, a place I wasn&#8217;t planning on going.<\/p>\n<p>They have low-priced complete meals on Sundays, like roast turkey or beef. \u00a0The entire menu (breakfast, lunch, and dinner items is available during all opening hours. \u00a0Can&#8217;t say for sure, but believe they shut down after the lunch &#8220;rush.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Your Marengo Cafe experience starts with a complimentary cracker basket.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Regular&#8221; sandwiches are accompanied by the free soup, and chips. \u00a0Add a buck for fries, the extruded mashed potato type. \u00a0Great pickles, hearty-sliced dill chips.<\/p>\n<p>Good coffee, and they keep the coffee and water coming until you say &#8220;uncle.&#8221; \u00a0 Ample condiment selection.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s probably a &#8220;Sysco-type&#8221; beef patty, the char marks were too uniform and the &#8216;grill flavor&#8217; probably came from liquid smoke.<\/p>\n<p>But hey, not all burgers can be great ones, or we wouldn&#8217;t know a great one when we stumbled into it, would we?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/20150322_115122.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"  wp-image-13898 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/20150322_115122-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Marengo Cafe Review\" width=\"448\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/271\/1205547\/restaurant\/Rockford\/Marengo-Cafe-Marengo\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; width: 200px; height: 146px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/b\/link\/1205547\/biglink.gif\" alt=\"Marengo Cafe on Urbanspoon\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Marengo Cafe Review<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in Illinois for the first foal auction of the Spring. \u00a0Need me a new horsey or two.
