{"id":12767,"date":"2014-11-13T08:01:14","date_gmt":"2014-11-13T16:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=12767"},"modified":"2014-11-13T08:01:14","modified_gmt":"2014-11-13T16:01:14","slug":"fricks-ham-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=12767","title":{"rendered":"Fricks Ham Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/fricks-gourmet-half-ham-sliced_large.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-12773\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/fricks-gourmet-half-ham-sliced_large-272x300.jpg\" alt=\"Frick Ham Review\" width=\"145\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>Ran into a product I hadn&#8217;t seen before, a boneless half \u00a0ham from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frickmeats.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frick&#8217;s Meat<\/a>, a purveyor from Washington, MO (about 40 miles west of St. Louis, halfway between I-70 on the north, and I-44 on the south. \u00a0Frick&#8217;s has been around for nearly a century and a quarter, and manufacturers processed pork products, including hams, bacon, and sausages.<\/p>\n<p>Family owned and operated for four generations, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frickmeats.com\/products\/category\/boneless\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the products<\/a> are widely distributed. \u00a0 The ham is fully cooked in the wrapper, but has a 10-15% shrinkage when pan-fried.<\/p>\n<p>This is a product I really enjoyed, other than the price, but I have that objection to all meat \u00a0these days.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite hams are the naturally cured ones for a long period of time from Virginia, especially the <a href=\"http:\/\/astore.amazon.com\/peterstromqui-20\/detail\/B008DQVB2E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">biscuit-sized pieces<\/a>, which aren&#8217;t available in the stores near me, but I order by mail a couple times a year.<\/p>\n<p>The hams are processed at Frick&#8217;s factory in Washington, MO at 360 M. E.
