{"id":12342,"date":"2014-10-07T08:45:44","date_gmt":"2014-10-07T15:45:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=12342"},"modified":"2014-10-07T08:45:44","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T15:45:44","slug":"meeskes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=12342","title":{"rendered":"Meeskes \/ Haybeck&#8217;s, Chicago Butchers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes I wish there was an illustrated dictionary of food. \u00a0There would be a photo, a list of ingredients, and a description of how the product is supposed to taste and what the texture should be. \u00a0If there was, beside the entry for &#8220;Italian Sausage&#8221; would be the hand-stuffed sausages at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heybecks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meeske&#8217;s and Haybeck&#8217;s<\/a> butcher shops in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>Just compare this list of ingredients to any other sausage on the market. \u00a0 Ready?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>pork<\/li>\n<li>water<\/li>\n<li>salt<\/li>\n<li>paprika<\/li>\n<li>garlic<\/li>\n<li>fennel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What? \u00a0No nitrates? \u00a0Celery juice? \u00a0BHT? \u00a0Corn syrup? \u00a0Artificial flavors? \u00a0&#8220;Natural&#8221; smoke flavor? \u00a0Vegetable protein?<\/p>\n<p>Nope.<\/p>\n<p>What does it taste like?
