{"id":11822,"date":"2014-07-15T06:06:31","date_gmt":"2014-07-15T13:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=11822"},"modified":"2014-07-15T06:06:31","modified_gmt":"2014-07-15T13:06:31","slug":"white-castle-crispy-jalapeno-chicken-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=11822","title":{"rendered":"White Castle Crispy Jalapeno Chicken Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last time I was in this particular White Castl<a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/2013\/02\/white-castle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">e<\/a> was a day \/ night I made a major fundamental mistake &#8211; and I&#8217;m not talking about dining at White Castle, which is always a delight. \u00a0No, the last time through this outlet was the day Mrs. Burgerdogboy proposed we get married (after consuming 12 or 15 ounces of vodka). \u00a0It was a harbinger of things to come, and \u00a0I walked right past the giant flashing billboard with blinders on.<\/p>\n<p>But hey, what fun would life be if one didn&#8217;t make critical mistakes every once and awhile?<\/p>\n<p>But back to White Castle.<\/p>\n<p>If there are two things that I would ordinarily eschew at any restaurant, it would be fried chicken patties, and anything that uses the name of a pepper in its description &#8211; \u00a0be it jalapeno, siracha, chipotle or ghost. \u00a0Very few chefs or menu planners no how to use peppers correctly, as a subtle undertone in a dish, and not as the primary flavor. \u00a0IMHO.<\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time, decades ago, there was a fast food chicken sandwich I liked at #Hardees. \u00a0It was real chicken protein muscle, ample in size and doused with black pepper. \u00a0But these days, I am more apt to go for &#8216;fingers&#8217; as evidenced by last year&#8217;s smackdown on &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/2013\/02\/chicken-strip-smackdown-south\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chicken fingers of the south<\/a>.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>But back to White Castle. \u00a0A friend insisted we try the jalapeno chicken sliders, and so we did, and I have to say, they weren&#8217;t all that bad. \u00a0 I did wonder if one would be able to tell the difference between the chicken and fish sliders, but wasn&#8217;t curious enough to conduct that test. \u00a0 Would I order them sometime? \u00a0Surprisingly (to me) yes, I would.<\/p>\n<p>Big kudos, too, to the Castle for having one of the most comprehensive selections of condiments around, in ample sized quantities.
