{"id":10873,"date":"2014-01-31T16:27:24","date_gmt":"2014-02-01T00:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=10873"},"modified":"2014-01-31T16:27:24","modified_gmt":"2014-02-01T00:27:24","slug":"mystic-pizza-frozen-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=10873","title":{"rendered":"Mystic Pizza Frozen Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/italian-sausage-basic-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-10880\" alt=\"Mystic Pizza Frozen Review\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/italian-sausage-basic-1-300x300.jpg\" width=\"210\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a>From the oven of a small town pie shop in <a href=\"www.mysticpizza.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mystic, Connecticut<\/a>, comes this frozen version which their publicity states is made from the same ingredients and in the same manner as the restaurant pizzas. \u00a0Many people became aware of this pizzeria from the Julia Roberts vehicle, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0095690\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mystic Pizza<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The pies have been available in the Northeast for some time, and are now working their way across the country, making it as far as Minnesota (Whole Foods) and Wisconsin (Woodmans). <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mysticpizza.com\/where-to-buy.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Locator here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I picked up the Italian Sausage variety, 22 oz for about seven bucks. \u00a015-20 minutes at 400 are the baking specs. \u00a0Mine came out at 16 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>I am a bit conflicted as to how to describe this pizza, other than to say it&#8217;s &#8220;ok.&#8221; \u00a0 When I took it out of the box, frozen, it had a definite pizzeria aroma to it, but unfortunately, that didn&#8217;t come through after baking.<\/p>\n<p>The crust is good, doughy, thicker than I like but enjoyable. \u00a0The illustration on the box shows a smidgen more cheese than the actual product. \u00a0The sauce is very mild, as is the Italian sausage, which surprised me. \u00a0It&#8217;s a pure pork product, with seasonings and spices added, but it could actually pass for a beef sausage, almost. \u00a0Needs more fennel and garlic.<\/p>\n<p>Would I buy it again?
