{"id":10296,"date":"2016-03-23T13:29:47","date_gmt":"2016-03-23T18:29:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/?p=10296"},"modified":"2016-03-23T13:29:47","modified_gmt":"2016-03-23T18:29:47","slug":"ore-ida-country-style-french-fries-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.peterstromquist.com\/?p=10296","title":{"rendered":"Ore-Ida Country Style French Fries Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Ore-ida.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10295\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Ore-ida-222x300.jpg\" alt=\"Ore-Ida French Fries\" width=\"140\" height=\"189\" \/><\/a>Started in 1952 in a small town on the border of Oregon and Idaho by local entrepreneurs the Grigg Brothers, Ore-Ida has become one of the largest processors of potatoes in the world. \u00a0Inventors of the tater tots. \u00a0Sold to Heinz in 1965.<\/p>\n<p>They currently make about 50 different types and sizes of frozen potatos, and I picked up the &#8220;Country Style French Fries&#8221;, which are touted to be lightly seasoned with skins.<\/p>\n<p>I rarely buy frozen (or any kind) of fries anymore, but was in the mood to try these. \u00a0I do love the tots, always my first choice on menus that offer a choice of \u00a0&#8216;taters.<\/p>\n<p>These were OK, whatever the &#8216;seasoning&#8217; is, I couldn&#8217;t taste it. \u00a0One of the ingredients on the bag is &#8220;potato flour&#8217;, and I have no idea what the purpose of that is. \u00a0Besides potatos and oils, the other ingredients are salt, flavorings and color.<\/p>\n<p>There was a story in the last couple days that McDonalds is dumping Heinz Ketchup after a 40 year marriage. \u00a0That must be a chunk of revenue. \u00a0Maybe they can start packing ketchup packs with the Ore-Ida fries? \u00a0It&#8217;s funny that as long as they have owned it, there has been no (that I am aware of ) cross promotion between Heinz and Ore-Ida. \u00a0Why not a special &#8220;French Fry Ketchup&#8221;. \u00a0Certainly a better idea than when Heinz put out ketchups in funky colors!<\/p>\n<p>Remember this commercial for Heinz Ketchup, behind the talented <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlysimon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carly Simon <\/a>tune? \u00a0The point was it was so thick, it took forever to come out of the bottle. \u00a0Apparently something has changed, as it runs out like water now. \u00a0It&#8217;s a shame that&#8217;s changed.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uoLoyg3JKRQ\" width=\"360\" height=\"255\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10301\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10301\" style=\"width: 426px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/20131026_152304.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-10301 \" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/20131026_152304-1015x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Ore Ida Country Style Fries\" width=\"426\" height=\"430\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10301\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Baked 22 minutes, 425<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ore-Ida Country Style French Fries Review<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Started in 1952 in a small town on the border of Oregon and Idaho by local entrepreneurs the Grigg Brothers, Ore-Ida has become one of the largest processors of potatoes in the world. \u00a0Inventors of the tater tots. \u00a0Sold to Heinz in 1965.
