I&#8217;m in the final weeks of my annual task of curing some raw ones at home, which I really enjoy. \u00a0My friends really enjoy jars of them for holiday gifts, or else they are really terrible liars. \u00a0I&#8217;m crazy for the olive bars in groceries now, except for the prices, which vary wildly. \u00a0You can find them at budget grocery stores for about $6.99 a pound, and at upscale groceries for anywhere from $11-$13 a pound. \u00a0Have you noticed they don&#8217;t have slotted spoons on the olive bars? \u00a0So unless you&#8217;re adept at scooping and draining, you can end up paying for brine. \u00a0Maybe you want that, I don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>But the olive deal I am currently smitten with is at Wal-Mart. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.delallo.com\/\">Delallo<\/a>, an Italian food manufacturer in Pennsylvania, \u00a0about 25 miles SE of Pittsburgh, has olives in a tub, usually found up near the deli counter with the specialty cheeses. They have several different 7 oz tubs, some are Greek, some are mixed, and a host of others. \u00a0Here&#8217;s the big news. They are regularly $2.48. \u00a0That&#8217;s less than $5 a pound. \u00a0Eureka!<\/p>\n<p>And btw? \u00a0They&#8217;re delicious. \u00a0You can order Delallo&#8217;s other <a href=\"http:\/\/www.delallo.com\/catalog\/olives-pound\">products online<\/a>, olives, pasta, sauces, oils, and more. \u00a0Delallo claims to have given us the grocery store olive bar. \u00a0So we can thank them for that!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/20131012_115521.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-10202\" alt=\"DeLallo Olives\" src=\"http:\/\/burgersdogspizza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/20131012_115521-1024x957.jpg\" width=\"430\" height=\"402\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a fiend for olives, as you know.
