Fuddruckers has been through a number of owners since its inception, and is currently held by Luby’s Cafeterias, another San Antonio concern. Portland, OR – Sheridan Fruit Company Again
Mrs. BurgerDogBoy (whom you will recall eschews eating burgers with me, except once or twice a year), eyeballed the ready to bake meat loaf at Sheridan Fruit Company in Portland the other day. A solid three pounds of ground meat, onions, bell peppers and spices, 350 for 75 minutes, a masterpiece. It was fantabulous!! Thanks, wifey!!!!

Portland, OR – Wong’s King Seafood
Went astray tonight, no burgers, hot dogs, or pizza; business dinner at Wong’s King Seafood in SE Portland, reportedly “the place” for great dim sum. Don’t think I will venture out for that, undoubtedly crowded. Liked it tonight, very few customers and we had one of the private dining rooms anyway. My host, another old… Continue reading Portland, OR – Wong’s King Seafood

Mrs. BDB Discovers Some Tasty Potato Chips
Ordinarily, my wife wouldn’t walk across a small room for a potato chip, just doesn’t care about them one way or another. Me, on the other hand, I was pretty used to consuming two big bags of them (Wavy or Ruffles) a week, until recently. I’ve slacked off. I especially like them to dip… Continue reading Mrs. BDB Discovers Some Tasty Potato Chips
Thoughts on Salt…..and Pepper
I use too much salt. Like most people, I have adult problems that have arisen because of childhood circumstances, and more than likely, salt is one of them. My father seldom said a cross word at the dinner table, but reach for the salt shaker, and he’d let go with a harsh word or two.… Continue reading Thoughts on Salt…..and Pepper
Portland, OR – Little Bird, Son of Le Pigeon
Arguably, in many people’s opinions, Portland’s Le Pigeon is one of the finest restaurants around. When the chef decided to open outlet # 2, ‘son of Le Pigeon” he called on his culinary skill to make a downsized, casual version, “Little Bird Bistro,” across from the US Bank Tower in… Continue reading Portland, OR – Little Bird, Son of Le Pigeon
Fond O’ Fondue? Try “Fond O’ Fondue!”
Found these cute little fondues at Barbur World Foods, one of my regular neighborhood stops. They are called “Fond O’ Fondue” and are from a company in NJ called Fondofoods. According to Barbur, the fondue product is made in Austria. Product information says that the cheese (which comes in a ‘collectible’ ceramic crock!) serves four… Continue reading Fond O’ Fondue? Home Cookin’ – Burger Seasoning
I am continuing my quest to find the perfect way to pre-season burgers I cook at home. Today I tried three methods: 1) frying a patty in bacon grease; 2) using JD’s Bacon Salt; and 3) Penzeys Spices “Chicago Steak Seasoning.” The results were mixed. Bacon grease, in general, didn’t add much flavor to… Continue reading Home Cookin’ – Burger Seasoning
